We hire counselors on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Working at a camp is a professional experience. At USF Discovery Academy, it’s a great way to gain exposure to curriculum development for specific academic subject matters, to discover different perspectives, to practice working with a team, and to see a program come to life.
Every camp and every camper is different. You’ll hone your own adaptive expertise, and find ways to connect to each camper. Providing guidance and support to campers will give you a strong foundation in leadership and mentoring. And, you’ll also gain valuable communication and problem-solving skills. It’s deeply rewarding and looks great on a resume.
Senior Camp Counselors
A senior camp counselor leads a USF summer camp and assumes responsibility for the care, supervision, and instruction of campers. You’ll mentor campers and supervise Junior Camp Counselors. You’ll also assist the Director and faculty facilitators with ideas and concepts for program development and improvement.
Senior camp counselors help plan and facilitate camp lessons. You’ll contribute to the growth and development of campers, work with a team of dedicated and compassionate individuals, and gain experience leading youth programs. All counselors must exercise good judgment, independence, and initiative in daily operations.
Junior Camp Counselors
A junior camp counselor assists with leading a USF summer camp and assumes responsibility for the care, supervision, and instruction of campers. You’ll support and mentor campers while sharing in the creation of meaningful camp experiences. You’ll also assist the Director and faculty facilitators with ideas and suggestions for program development and improvement.
Junior camp counselors assist the senior camp counselors in creating and carrying out lesson plans for the assigned camps. As a junior camp counselor, you’ll gain experience in leading activities for youth and providing guidance, inspiration, and support to campers. All counselors must exercise good judgment, independence, and initiative in daily operations.
