you’ll discover your passion for healthcare. Campers visit different healthcare professions across campus and receive stamps on their “passport.” Lots of hands-on activities give campers the feeling of what it’s like to work in a hospital or healthcare setting. Whether you aspire to be a nurse or doctor, or simply want to explore the workings of a hospital, this workshop is your gateway.

Students will gain in-depth experiences in the concepts behind different healthcare professions, including Nursing, Physical Therapy, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Social Work, Surgery, Radiology, Pharmacy, Sonography, Respiratory Therapy, EMS, and more.

Lunches are provided.

  • Learn about in-demand health careers right in your community.
  • Some examples of activities done with each of the different departments include a service project done by social work, suturing pigs’ feet in surg tech, an escape room in PA, physical therapy exercises in PTA, checking out a real ambulance with TRAA, visiting the cadaver lab, and using a real ultrasound machine in DMS.
  • With knowledgeable faculty on hand, you’ll get your questions answered and come away with different perspectives.

All of the USF Discovery Academy experiences are designed and taught by USF educators. Campers will get to experience life on a college campus and learn about future careers.

At A Passport to Your Future in Healthcare, campers will practice surgical skills, learn the process of diagnosing patients by collaborating with a medical team, and engage in lively discussions about public health issues.

Program Outcomes:

  • Campers will develop a better understanding of healthcare careers.
  • Campers will create connections with faculty members who can provide insight and career mentorship.
  • Campers will build familiarity and knowledge of the collegiate system.

This camp is a great experience for anyone that wants to explore healthcare careers. You will learn about different areas of healthcare and get some hands-on experience. Each profession has faculty from the program, as well as current students that will be there to help you learn more about what they do.”
