At the One Day Healthcare Academy…
you’ll discover your passion for healthcare. Whether you aspire to be a nurse or doctor, or simply want to explore the workings of a hospital, this workshop is your gateway. Hosted by the University of Saint Francis Crown Point, the summer healthcare academy invites you to dive into hands-on exploratory activities across various healthcare fields.
From nursing to surgical technology, radiologic technology to emergency medical services, campers will rotate through classrooms and labs, gaining valuable insights into in-demand healthcare careers. With knowledgeable faculty on hand, you’ll get your questions answered and come away with different perspectives.
Lunch is provided.
Program Highlights
- Learn about in-demand health careers right in your community.
- You will be a part of a small cohort of campers receiving focused faculty attention. This camp mirrors the University of Saint Francis’ commitment to small classrooms and in-depth teaching.
- You will go outside the classroom and meet with people working in the field, such as local first responders and hospital workers.
What you’ll learn and experience
All of the USF Discovery Academy experiences are designed and taught by USF educators. The USF Crown Point location is integrated with a hospital campus, so campers will get a unique perspective on both future healthcare career paths and what higher education can be like.
At the USF Healthcare Academy, campers will be immersed in the heartbeat of the hospital. Campers will learn about the rhythm of nursing, radiologic technology, and emergency medical services.
Program Outcomes:
- Campers will develop a better understanding of healthcare careers.
- Campers will create connections with faculty members who can provide insight and career mentorship.
- Campers will build familiarity and knowledge of the collegiate system.
