Do you have a passion for creating music? Are you eager to get into a studio and record your own tracks? Or do you just want to demystify the process of mixing and mastering?

At USF Discovery Academy’s Music Technology Summer Studio Experience, campers spend time making music in a variety of studios individually and in small groups. You’ll learn modern record production, multitrack recording and mixing techniques, and DJ production skills. Genres students can explore include Hip Hop and R&B, Pop, Punk and Metal, and Contemporary Music.

Campers will get hands-on experience and coaching in professional recording studios, with high-end sound equipment, and instruments.

This camp does not provide meals. Please pack your own lunches.

  • Work side-by-side with professionals and learn to record and mix live studio sessions.
  • Learn how mastering can enhance your tracks, and get insider information on marketing methods for independently released albums.
  • Create recordings of your own work and performances.

All of the USF Discovery Academy experiences are designed and taught by USF educators. Campers will get to experience life on a college campus and learn about future careers.

In our Music Technology Summer Studio Experience, in particular, campers discover the rhythm of a music school education while advancing their techniques and building relationships with professional mentors. Campers will:

  • Work hands-on in recording sessions with professional sound engineers
  • Learn the ropes in a professional recording studio with high-end gear
  • Learn about sound design for games and other media
  • Prepare a more advanced skillset for college programs
